Had my first hit out today after a fairly long lay off. Ran a 5km Handicap and struggled all the way.
My job wasnt made any easier by the fact that I ran off 2nd scratch and had the Backmarker start only 10 seconds behind me. I was hoping to break 20 minutes yet managed 19:09. Not a great time but at least I know now where I am at fitness wise.
My calf pulledup OK, some soreness in my Achilles but nothing too serious. Some stretching should fix this easily.
Training this week was going ok until Thursday and then I had Thursday and Friday off due to 2 very long days at work.
It seems I work with some people who lack the ability to take responsibility for anything that may go wrong. I had a delivery driver mix up some deliveries this week and when he and I fronted the Customer and she asked who was responsible I told her that I take full blame for it, afterall, some one has to right? I found out later that the Driver had already told her it was my fault. If he had checked his Run Sheets prior to leaving the Office that morning he would have avoided any mix ups and none of this would have happened. To think that he had the nerve to blame me for it is disgraceful. Whats even worse is that his Manager did nothing about it either, yet he admitted that it was the Driver who f#@*ed up. What goes around comes around and I will be waiting.
I asked that same Driver to do a drop off for me on his way home last night as a Customer (a Pub) in the neighbourhood where he lives needed some stock rather urgently. He told me he wasnt going straight home and therefore couldnt do it. Imaging my surprise when I arrived at this Pub to see the Driver sitting at the bar with a Beer in his hand. He knew thats where the Delivery was going but insisted he couldnt do it.
I guess sometimes when you want something done you gotta do it yourself. I know a Driver who is out of favours right now.
Enough of my whinging.
